Election Commission (EC) deputy secretary Datuk Noordin Che Ngah said campaigning in any way or form had to cease by 12am before the polling day.
”However, enforcing it is another matter as it is not within our jurisdiction. We will have to discuss with the
Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission and get their cooperation on the enforcement part,” he said at a briefing for political parties’ representatives and members of the press here on Monday.
An attendee had raised the question on whether the EC could take action against those campaigning after 12am through social media sites such as Facebook.
Noordin said the EC had to work within its power but complaints could still be forwarded to the body.-The Star
